May Play May Night

Rescued from the dark and musty basement of an Oakland Home, this dusty old violin case has been refurbished and made the focal point of this three dimensional wall piece titled "May Play, May Night". Love and music are the themes in this work of assemblage. Readily visible in this work is the 1958 sheet music entitled "May Night" which is nicely displayed in a vintage Kraft mayonnaise jar that is attached to the case and supported by an old napkin holder. Suspended and also noticeable is a vintage 33 1/3 RPM record album entitled "Music for Lovers Only" presented by Jackie Gleason. Other components within this work include a cigarette case and antique keys, not musical keys, but perhaps keys to some lovers unlocked heart. The silent instrument which occupies the case has been completely fabricated from top to bottom utilizing old kitchen utensils, string, springs, and wood. Just like with love, this instrument has not yet been mastered. It "May Play", or then again, it "May Night".
