Vintage Totem

This Vintage Totem is a tribute to the past and a creation intended to honor the artist's palette. Each component within this work was joyfully collected and then carefully cleaned. With the exception of a few items, most components within this work required extensive restoration. In the case of the cigar boxes, many were in such poor condition it involved combining two boxes and replacing damaged sides to construct one good box worth preserving. Many of the old tins were rust worn with dents and needed additional care. Each book within the totem remains accessible and readable. Several other items of interest in this work are also accessible for use and observation.

Many of these components could never be restored to their original condition, and in such cases, some sacrifice was made in an honest effort to erect a suitable and sustainable tribute. I decided with respect and careful consideration where each vintage item would be honored within the totem. Neatly stacked with attention to detail, each and every item has a secure place among the others. A modest table serves as the platform from which this tribute is erected and has again found a useful place to be. I admire each component that has endured. The balls, the books the boxes, they all tell tales of the rise and fall of a bygone era. A vintage clock has survived and continues to remind us that time does not stand still.

Will the totem stand tall....or fall?
